He does have a picture on the wall, placed first in the row, but is that enough?
Such a personality certainly deserves more.
The developed football world has long been known for honouring its icons with statues, streets, squares, schools, or by naming stands and even entire stadiums after them. From the very beginning, it was our intention to name after him the National Football Stadium, Tehelné Pole – where he played for Slovan.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to make this change, as it is an extremely complex process. But we decided not to let that stop us and commissioned a bronze bust of him, created by the renowned Czech sculptor Jakub Vlček.
And do you know who helped us?
Dr Jan Telensky, a Czechoslovakian native, philanthropist, lover of all things good and beautiful, and football fan, now living in London.
Without his generosity and our determination as the filmmakers, none of this would have been possible.
The bust was installed in Bratislava on October 18th, 2024.
